Hoosier R5 Eastbourne 10/05/17

In perfect racing conditions 10 Hot Rods arrived to take part in the Hoosier Racing Tire Series at Eastbourne. Paul Newark was booked in to race, but after a lot of work on his car, he found he had a small leak in his sump so left his car at home. After a long journey, it was heartbreak for Lewis Shelley as his engine blew up in practice. So we were down to 9 cars for race 1. Tyler Wilkins was extremely fast and soon took the lead and the win in Heat 1. Then disaster struck, he was out for the rest of the night with the clutch gone.
Mitch Souter crossed the line first in Heat 2, but was docked 2 places for contact, so Damon Wellman inherited the win.
Damo started in pole for the final and held off George Turiccki to take a good win. Dan Smith crossed the line third but was docked 2 places for contact, so Sean O'Leary taking third. A good nights racing on the fast tight Arlington track, we just need a few more cars!

George Turiccki retains Southern

A very disappointing 11 cars arrived at Arlington for the 2017 Southern Championship on Bank Holiday Monday 01/05/17 in mixed weather conditions. After some heavy downpours the track dried out before the racing started. With no practice and our race being on after 2 van banger races, the track was in a bad way. Dan Smith was on pole with George Turiccki on his outside, after a good couple of laps side by side, George got into the lead and pulled clear for a good win. Lewis Shelley took Heat 2 from pole with another good win.
George took the Southern Championship with Tyler Wilkin getting close to him in the final stages, Dan Smith took third.

Hoosier Round 4 16/04 Aldershot

About 17 2 Litre Hot Rods turned up for round 4 of the Hoosier Tyre series at Aldershot. With slightly overcast but dry conditions for race 1, it was Jason Busby in 87 nipping up round the outside of 39 Glen Woodbridge to take the lead as they completed the first lap. Busby then proceeded to open out a massive lead with Woodbridge effectively holding up the chasing pack. It was really exciting to watch, but just over halfway the pressure eventually took its tole as 310 Sean O'Leary finally muscled his way past opening the door for the other superstars. 118 Lewis Shelley came through into third place, but a knock from behind allowed 303 Gavin Botfield and 43 Paul Wright to get past. Up front though this proved to be a runaway victory for Jason Busby in the 87 car, with almost half a lap lead over Sean O'Leary in second place and Botfield in third.

The start of the second race saw 39 Glen Woodbridge take an early lead with 35 Mitchell Souter battling his way past 275 Brett Collison for second, with 87 Jason Busby and 228 Alan Throndyke in pursuit. Souter put in a challenge for the lead on the pits bend, but ended up pushing the 39 car into a spin resulting in himself being taken out by 87, and in the blink of an eye the leader board was rewritten as Busby took over at the front from Thorndyke, Demon Wellman in number 8 and the flying O'Leary. Paul Wright was then taken out after an incident on the back straight denting his chances of some decent points. Wellman and O'Leary found their way past Thorndyke to take second and third positions. In the final stages Wellman caught up with leader Busby, but couldn't find a way past allowing Jason to have the lime-light again. Wellman thus took second place with O'Leary up there again in third.

After scoring 2 heat wins it was Busby who on pole for the final, O'Leary was alongside him with Botfield and Wellman behind. It all got a bit hectic at the start with a lot of bumping and barging on the Aldershot turn, but Busby just held on to the lead with O'Leary getting a hefty thump from Botfield as they came through. Down towards the back 35 Mitchell Souter was tapped into a spin by Brett Collison, but managed to get to safety. On lap 3 O'Leary got a good run coming off the pits corner allowing him to get up the inside of Busby to take the lead, also allowing Botfield to come through as well. Wellman also got a run on Busby, as Botfield nicked the back of O'Leary's car again on the following lap as he duly took over the lead. After the excitement of the early laps the race seemed to settle down a bit with Botfield beginning to open out a lead from O'Leary in second and Wellman in third. In the later stages 186 George Turiccki and 565 Dan Smith were able to pass the 87 car of Busby to take 4th and 5th positions, and that's how the order stayed to the chequered flag. After the race though there was a late turn-up for the books! Having initially crossed the finish line first on the road, 303 Gavin Botfield was later disqualified for using an incorrect tyre! Thus giving the victory to the ever popular Sean O'Leary in 310! Number 8 Damon Wellman took second place, with 186 George Turiccki moving up to third in a Corsa 1-2-3 finish.

Paul Wright takes Hoosier R3 Ipswich

Paul Wright won the final in his new car in probably the most destructive race I have been in. A few laps into the final Kevin Randell's engine blew up on the entry to the scoreboard bend with around 8 unlucky drivers following him into the wall. After a lengthy clear up, Lewis Shelley lead the restart, Paul Wright made his way to the front to win from Lewis Shelley and Ryan Morgan.
Damon Wellman won Heat 1 and Alan Thorndyke took Heat 2.

Kevin Randell takes Hoosier Round 2

At a dry fast Northampton on 11/032017. Kevin Randell won both the final and Heat 2. Robert Ashman took Heat 1, then crossed the line first in Heat 2 but was docked 2 places for starting the race in the wrong place. In a strange decision he was asked before the race if he was happy starting where he was (at the front of the yellows instead of where he should be, at the back of the yellows because he won the first heat) but he was allowed to start there instead of being put to the back of the yellows or at the back of the grid.
The final was delayed as the computer had calculated the grid wrong! when we got going, Kevin Randell won from pole, with Robert Gamble second and Robert Ashman third.
Kevin Randell wins Hoosier Racing Tire Series Round 2.
